Remarriage & Desires (2022)

Quick Take: Remarriage and Desires (2021), starring Lee Hyun-wook, Kim Hee-sun, and Jung Yoo-jin.  8.0/20.   8 episodes of 60 minutes each.

Synopsis:   Remarriage and Desires is supposedly a satire on high-end matchmaking companies that find potential mates for the wealthy, but it takes itself too seriously to pull that off.  Manipulative and ambitious Jin Yoo-hee has her sights set on a particular billionaire who’s young and good-looking as well as rich.  Meanwhile, middle-class Seo Hye-seung is determined to thwart Yoo-hee, as revenge for driving Hye-seung’s husband to suicide after Yoo-hee broke off their affair.

It’s a melodrama of the most melodramatic.

Review: Remarriage and Desires is kind of like a hot-fudge sundae.  You know you shouldn’t love it though you do — until it gets to be just too much.  The women are the stars of this one, especially Jung Yoo-jin who plays the wicked but unapologetic Yoo-hee.  The men just kind of react.

Rewatchable - 2, Compelling - 3, Plot/ Story/Writing - 7,  Acting/Casting - 8, Production - 10,  Bonus -  0.   4 Bonus points for deliciously evil Jin Yoo-hee, but minus 4 points for the ridiculous ending.
