On Your Wedding Day (2018)
Quick Take: On Your Wedding Day (2018), starring Kim Young-kwan and Park Bo-young. 8.7/10. 110 Minutes
Synopsis: Synopsis: On Your Wedding Day tells the story of a relationship over ten years, from high school through college till early adulthood. The movie was a box-office success and Kim Young-kwan received a Best New Actor award for his performance.
Review: This is one of the few Korean productions I’ve watched on Prime, which offers more movies than series dramas. A movie is equivalent to a two-episode series, and sometimes less of a commitment has a certain charm. This one is sweet. It does particularly well depicting the cringe-worthy moments of first love; we can all relate to that. It does less well depicting the reasons for the break-up. Two hours just doesn’t allow a lot of time for relationships to evolve.
Rewatchable - 3, Compelling - 4, Plot/ Story/Writing - 8, Acting/Casting - 9, Production - 10, Bonus - 3. Bonus points for depiction young love.
