Semantic Error (2022)
Quick Take: Semantic Error (2022 Viki) (movie), starring Park Jae-chan and Park Seo-ham. 8 episodes, 30 minutes each.
Synopsis: Introverted Computer Science major Chu Sang-woo gets annoyed at the members of his group project not contributing anything, so he takes their names off the final presentation. Lack of credit for the project details the graduation plans of Jang Jae-young, popular Design major. Although their personalities put them constantly at odds, they agree to collaborate on a video game, with Sang-woo writing the code and Jae-young providing the graphics. Things progress from there.
Review: This is my favorite BL (Boys Love) drama yet, partly because it’s set in a more believable universe that has girls in it.
Connections: Both the stars come out of K-pop bands. Park Jae-chan is a member of DKZ — previously Dongkiz. His agency was opposed to his taking the role but its popularity brought renewed interest to his group. Park Seo-ham was a member of KNK, which debuted in 2016. He left the group in 2021, just after finishing this drama and prior to enlisting for his mandatory military service.
